Well, during the first year I played the TCG against a guy that's a friend of mine now. I became known as "the crazy pokemon card fanboy"(in spanish since I live in argentina), or something like that.
I never got called like that actually, but years after High School ended, when talking to a girl that used to be the in the same class, she called me that, so I guess anyone thought the same way. I wasnt picked on that neither for that matter, people didnt care too much; partially because I learned to hide/not talk about the stuff I liked.

Everyone saw it as a nostalgia thing and were cool with it. Then DP came out and EVERYONE played it. There was a teacher everyone liked named Mr. Lux and everyone named their Luxray after him.

just got emerald and I would play it in every class. I didn't have a girlfriend so didn't really care, discovered where the ''nerdy'' kids would hide out and they got me to play yugioh and people thought I was gay because i would play children card games and not go to parties or have a GF. It was more an experience of discovering that a good number of other people at my high school liked Pokémon. I'd been homeschooled for most of middle school, and the forums I visited had convinced me that I'd be a pariah if it got out that I still liked Pokémon. I orginally played with a group of friends Gen 4, then we still played Gen 5. At the tail end of highschool I got an emulator working on Android so I played Emerald during breaks

I didnt play pokémon in highschool, but in occasional conversations I noticed everyone used to be a pokéfag at some point. My last highschool year Gamefreak announced HG/SS, I bought a DS just to play it and everyone seemed interested in the remakes.

first two years, no one cared. my gf and her friends were the cool kids and thought it was neat/cute/hipster but nothing beyond that. junior was cool since i realized my hs had an "anime club". 6-0 "the best player" there twice and some other guy; no one played with me after that. dropped out during senior year for unrelated reasons

Some of my friends would say I fucked Pokemon, no idea why, back then I hadn't even fapped to a Pokemon, and some of my friends didn't care. I exposed my power level to another friend when he thought Gary was Professor Oak's nephew, so I had to prove to him that he was in fact his grandson. He was cool about that, we were partners for a project to write a children's book to be sent to some elementary school kid, and we based it on Pokemon Yellow.

I was in choir, and all the other guys starting playing Pokemon again, so we all started bringing our DS's to school and trading and battling. I played online competitively so I usually swept shop, but there were a couple guys who were also competitive.

I went to a very, very small school in bumfuck nowhere East Texas. Pokemon was for children and getting pregnant was for high schoolers.
Also, apparently liking Pokemon made me a lesbian, so that was a lot of fun.
But I still played a lot and won't every stop.

Some of the people who gave me a hard time about it still try to fuck with me on Facebook and send me messages like, "Hey, anon, go back to your basement and play Pokemon u dyke."

What the hell man, we graduated last year, I moved 50 miles away and you're still giving me shit?
Jokes on them though, one of the girls is pregnant with twins and has a meth problem, enjoy your retarded babies Jenna.
