If I said everyone on earth liked ice cream and then you didn't, my statement would be invalid, there would be nothing about it. It would be entirely false.
You can't just say "fighting is straight melee" and then when faced with opposing factors, say that they don't count. They're still fighting moves.
Besides, it's not like all 40 of the other moves exactly fit that either. I'm 90% sure I've never seen a wake-up slap being done in a professional fight, and it's entirely opposite to the "no morals about it" style you're suggesting.
