I feel like a region based on Southern Ontario is actually doable, with two cities on opposite ends representing Vancouver and Nova Scotia despite it not being in the same geographic region, like BW did with Pokestar Studios: Los Angeles and Virbank: Pittsburgh

We have a pretty cool "park" that's basically just forest and runs through two cities. It'd make a nice "forest in between the second and first town".
The beach is less than 40 miles away, so I guess that could be a location (water route?).

I've had ideas for a region based on my state since forever. Flying gym could be in the town where the airport is a la Skyla, Poison gym could be in a city marred by urban decay.

My hometown would be home to the Grass-type gym (leader would have a Roselia/Roserade).

Puget Sound area is the thriving center, always rains in any area west of Cascades, Water-types and Flying-types and Grass-types everywhere. A LOT of forests and rivers and port towns/cities. Points of interest are Seattle. Bellingham, Olympia, definitely not Tacoma. Gross Dark-types everywhere to the far West before you get to Pacific Ocean to display how terrible Aberdeen and Hoquiam and the like are. Lots of Ice-type concentration in the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. Stuff to do on Mt Rainier, Mt Olympus has a Greek mythology theme to it, you can find a lot of Fire-types in Mt St Helens. Ground and Grass and Rock types in the Columbia Basin east of the Cascades. A lot of native imagery, and lots of artists and musicians. Crows and seagulls everywhere. Every Gym Leader offers to smoke a bowl with you, which increases exp but decreases speed. You can explore the Olympic rainforest, with unique Species there. Post-game involves exploration of San Juan Islands.
A key item you receive is an umbrella, which negates the passive constant rain - however, if you use the umbrella, every single NPC will want to fight you. Fellow Washingtonians know what I mean.
