I wish I wasn't right and we could simply have our new protag. Hell, they should make a spinoff, I said it a lot of times, a spinoff could leave Ash and pals untouched and possibly add a slightly older audience (think early teens, not edgy pandering) depending on the content.
I think it's mostly because, like I said, it's not really broke. They can keep doing what they're doing and no harm done. Toy sales, game sales, new minds every year to watch their show before school.
