>>12356504He's trying not to seem like things were inconsistent in hindsight, the first trailer for the first movie (the one that was originally supposed to end the series) had an older Misty walking with a young child, with Ash's Pikachu playing with the kid. It's so painfully obvious what they were getting at with that and the second movie, I can't believe people would actually try to deny it.
Anyways, even after he left the series in mid-Johto, they still had Misty get jealous of Macy and had the Hoso thing that pretty much made her feelings confirmed. Even if it wasn't his intent, they kept going with it as if it was after he left.
