Why does everyone care what information could be leaked from an unofficial source and who leaks it?

If the content is leaked from someone unofficial, it's not even confirmed information. Although the information may actually be correct, you won't know that until it's leaked. One could easily get more frustrated trying to figure out if a rumor is true or not than they could simply going about their daily lives while waiting. It may be fun to speculate, but you can easily do enough of that with the official information given.

Not only that, but who actually cares about who the leaker is? If they correctly predicted information, what praise would anyone bother giving them? Who would praise YOU if you leaked information? People would just forget the next day. If someone had information before you, that's not worth praise or attention. Having information before another person is not praise-worthy, it's just having connections with an official source. Also, for those who like to parade around any information they have (which according to everyone here is what WPM does), why give them attention for it? All it does is fuel their egos. Leakers can't hold on to any misguided pride they have for very long anyway, since information can leak just the next month.
