Hey guys, what if the newer pokemon designs are such shit because GF can't use/base off of fan made pokemon and so they're stuck with literal garbage?

The XY Pokemon are just fine, the only issue is all the small unevolved Pokemon have giant heads even by Pokemon standards and it looks jarring as fuck for some of them.

Especially Fennekin which just baffles me.

Anyway, GF most likely has a vault full of unused Pokémon designs from a long time ago and that uses from tiem to time, and is probably older than most fakemon

As for the XY pokémon, I can assure you they are already made and copyrighted and have been so since before the announcement. Any similarity with a fakemon is a coincidence

Why is everybody under the impression that game freak couldn't take inspiration from or flat out rip-off fakemon? Unless the creator has actually gone through the process of copyrighting their work, they'd have no legal basis to challenge Gamefreak.

Actually it's the opposite. Fletchling, Pancham and Gogoat have all been met with very positive results. Helioptile too for the most part. Xerneas and Yveltal are really liked too. The starters...besides Fennekin it's been mixed. Same with Sylveon. The only real shit storm was over Newtwo

To be honest, I haven't been this excited for a new generation since Gen three, and I got really excited for that. I've liked all of the new Pokemon so far. There are bound to be a few that we don't like, but it's the same for every Gen. This is the first Gen that I've actually had trouble deciding which version and starter to choose.

TLDR; there are bound to be some that you don't like, deal with it.

Exactly. There are 17 types already and 153 (did I math good?) unique type combinations, which means they could create anywhere from 17 to 153 wholly original pokemon just based on different types of dogs. Repeat that for any distinct species, then combine species, then use inanimate objects, then combine species with inanimate objects, etc.

Fact: Game Freak comes up with hundreds of designs each gen. Overflowing with designs, really. 30 Johto Pokemon were intended for Kanto. Shellos and Gastrodon, at least, were intended for Hoenn. There are tons of Pokemon they'll be waiting for the right game to implement
