What are some new game mechanics you'd like to see in X and Y?

>No more of this doctor bullshit. Instead, certain areas are encounter-free and your pokemon either slowly regenerate or you can choose to rest there.
>Pokemon evolving mid-battle.
>More mechanics like secret bases and Join Ave. I love stuff like that where it makes you actually feel like you live in the world.

I would also like to see more of the dna splicing mechanic, since these games seem to be based of the DNA concept.

There should be over 8 Gyms, it would make things less linear and cause for different events to happen that effects the story, not a huge amount more just maybe 10 or 12 gens, with only needing 8 badges.

Since the starting city seems to be a hub for the game (Refferencing a Gate like number over one of the town exits seen in the trailer) I would like for different in town events to happen after each return to it, Like after completing a story element and you need to go back to the town something happens.

You know how Miare City is in the middle?

Let us challenge gyms in unspecified order. The levels would scale just like normal; the next gym would be stronger. Not all 8 at once, but we could have the choice of two gyms to take on, or three. (The game still has to be linear because wild Pokemon leveling.)

or maybe wild pokemon scale with you. I'm not sure how this could work out, maybe they are based off the first pokemon in your party (5 levels below to five levels higher). Or maybe it's based on the average level of your party

HMs are still in and important (unlike in Gen 5) BUT they don't take a moveslot

Ability to change nature and ability (take them to the pokepsychologist or something, whatever)

Large fleshed-out cities like the ones in Colosseum

Challenge modes, so stuff like Nuzlocke, one use per pokecenter, etc are implemented within the game itself. They'd be unlocked after beating the game once or something to prevent kiddies from doing them and crying about it.

Smarter AI that uses strategical thinking and competent tactics (other than "double team a bunch of times and use confuse ray, lel"). For instance, AI that actually switches out when at a disadvantage. Teams that aren't just 6 magickarps and such.

More even wild pokemon distribution. If there are ~200 pokemon available to be caught in the game, then why do 99% of all encounters consist of a handful of pokemon (bidoof, zubat, geodude, etc)? We're going to have over 600 pokemon to work with here and there's absolutely no reason why I need to see the same ones over and over again.

Multiple save slots. Because we're no longer using original gameboy carts and there's no reason why we can't do this.

Not sure if they would go that far, sounds like more coding work. If the levels are set, it leaves more effort into developing the rest of the game and such. This is Game Freak we're talking about, while they do give us unnecessary things, that's kinda pushing it. I like the idea though.

Nah, physical attackers get off easy since *most* pokemon can learn a variety of physical attacks.

But with special attacks, most pokemon can only learn special attacks corresponding to their type. That's not 100% true, what with there being pokemon with diverse movepools like most normals, dragons, nidoking, etc. Still, my point remains.

Secret Bases from R/S/E and Sinnoh UNderground.

A separate area that's giant, like the Sinnoh Underground but where there's actually a lot of people. Some place with trees, rivers, all that jazz. No need to make it a whole new region, but a wide area would be nice, and maybe we could make some secret bases THERE and just chill and show off to other people. Wi-fi battles with different backgrounds other than the normal empty one would be nice, y'know

Fleshed out, entertaining Contest-type sidequest that goes all the way into a league tournament, held in every city so you can run it parallel to your journey if you like. Contests in past games were way too small a mechanic, and as boring as they were, if they brought back something exciting like the pokeathalon I'd like to see them flesh it out more, so it's less of a minigame and more of an actual sidequest. have a lot of rewards for participating, too.
