WPM claims he was only acting like a jackass to draw attention from the source, so that he would not be caught by Nintendo, but his plan backfired and it still happened.
The source was caught because some other guys who knew the source were being really cavalier with the information, which was then traced back to the source, allowing him to be caught.
The guys who were being cavalier with the information claim they were actually also intentionally acting like jerkasses to draw attention away from the source.
tl;dr: Everyone behaved badly, and we won't be getting any more leaks.
