GameFreak hasn't revealed it to be a new form yet, so since some kids may still think it's just a Pokemon related to Mewtwo, they want them to keep guessing the type.

being a new form rather than a new pokemon is relevant because new forms' types have always been revealed immediately.

Most likely it has a second type. Besides they leave question marks for a second type as opposed to leaving it blank, making a new forme in pointless unless there's something different about said forme. Yes it could be stats but if they change the type that usually goes hand in hand. Plus if he's changing form to battle Genesee, his special is insane enough as is, I doubt he's not strong enough.

That being said it could be fairy as a second type, but if it's true Sylveon is clearly the face of the type, it would seem odd if they made the original strongest legendary fairy as well. While it is possible, it's unlikely. I think it's actually a different new type. I think one new type would seem a little gimmicky honestly while 2 types is a new feature.

But the biggest thing is ITS SPEXULATION. STOP BY SO BUTT HURT. People on Reddit are more grown up than 90% of you assholes
