My biggest problem with PS is that it shows the attack animation even when it missed, unlike in the games. This annoys the shit out of me because I'll automatically think whatever I used hit until I realize next turn that it didn't.

Like, I'll switch in my sableye to w-o-w an attacker. I see the animation and I say to myself "okay, time to get the fuck out of here." I'll switch and then the next turn later, I'll realize that w-o-w missed and it's still not burned. Same goes with any status effect from paralysis to leech seed.

I was playing RandBats and I accidentally clicked on a bookmark after clicking the move to use. When I got back to the battle, the move selection had cleared. Potentially you could use this to quickly change what move you were going to use if you made a mistake. It's a very minor bug, but I thought you should know all the same. Otherwise, good job.

You should add some of the glitchmons, like Female Symbol and MissingNo and M'. Female Symbol would probably be in Ubers, since it's 10 points away from being an Arceus.

Background looks weird but yeah. Can you save these teams or does it still do the weird thing with the cookies? and have you ever thought of a friend system? Is there a way to play Showdown without team preview?

This part about Gen V bugs me. What happened to the strategy involved in slowly piecing your opponent's team together as they're revealed. Now you can just see a team and say "oh, I know exactly what all these guys do"

the older gen formats have no team preview, I guess you could say team preview is added to make it more like the real thing, and it wouldn't be fair if your opponent knew your team but you didn't know theirs. Similarly I doubt many people would play non-teampreview tiers or something

You could play Gen 4 or custom games.

But Showdown is ultimately a simulator of cartidges, if at all, I imagine that stuff takes lesser priority

There's a "No Team Preview" option for custom games (so you can challenge other people who don't like team preview), and we now have Gen 4 OU support. Random Battle and the Hackmons tiers don't have team preview, either.

Unfortunately, I don't decide game mechanics, and Game Freak's decided on Team Preview officially, so there's nothing I can do about that. :/

The newer version is less laggy overall.

Most of the lag comes from the fact that the lobby has over 3000 users, you know. If your computer is too slow to handle that much going on, turn off lobby chat, and most of the lag goes away.

Also, why are there visible account ranks to begin with? It sends the power right to their head. I see the reason you have ranks but not why you have to make them visible, hiding the ranks would eliminate a lot of the ciclejerking you have going on there.

I wrote that as a note to myself that I still needed to implement rearranging the team list, rearranging pokemon on the teams, and also to make the team list look nicer.

Well, mods are at the top because if a user needs a mod for something (e.g. opponent breaking rules in a battle, or to appeal a mute), they should be easy to find.

Well, the symbols are important for figuring out who to talk to. Leader (&) outranks (@) moderator, so Leaders are good people to appeal to if you disagree with a moderator decision, for instance.

And as for +, well, it's mostly a recognition thing, so making it visible is sort of intentional there.

Yeah, one day. At least this one's slightly better than the last one for mobile devices. I tested it on an iPad and it's decent. You have to do a lot of zooming to use it on a phone though (although, as always, the actual battling part isn't bad in landscape mode).

I _will_ fix that, but I have a bunch of other things to work on first.

I'm not leet enough to make or use an actual 3D engine. 3DS DRM isn't cracked anyway; we won't be able to rip the models off the 3DS at launch.

Let's hope the core battle mechanics will be the same, or it will take a long time to figure that out how to simulate the actual battle. I do think someone will spill the beans on the ROM encryption sooner or later.

My story's pretty generic. I got my start programming by reading the manual that came with my TI-92 when I was eleven. So yeah, I'm like any other whiz-kid coder of my generation, really.

My parents eventually hinted that I should start programming on computers, and web development had a low barrier to entry and worked cross-platform, so I ended up there. I'd like to think I did a lot of web app stuff before it was cool (even PS is one of the first HTML5 games out there), but I probably wasn't anything special.

I played Pokémon Online.

Its replays were text-only, but I wanted to watch replays. So I made a replay player for it.

Once I had the animation engine, I figured I might as well fix all the other things I didn't like about Pokémon Online. And here we are.
