This was my first event. Not only did I get there on time but I convinced my parents to drive my little sister to the toys r us, which was about an hour away, so she could get in line with me and I could get two of them.

Mew was my first, shortly after Yellow came out. It was nearly my birthday and I knew my mum already bought me pokemon yellow for my birthday. Somehow I saw the words pokemon in the newspaper even though I was a kid and never read it, and upon reading the small little section it mentioned an event at the zoo where they were giving out Mew, and it was only for that weekend or something. I freaked out and tried to explain to my mum how big of a deal that was, and convinced her to let me have my birthday present early as well as take me to the zoo that day. Boy was I a spoiled kid.

My friend won a Mew from Nintendo Power in his Blue version. He cloned it for a few of us. I got Surfing Pikachu from Nintendo Power as well.

My first was this one too. I cloned it abunch of times and migrated them to Diamond to trade to people over the GTS making ridiculous offers. I akmost forgot which Mew was the original one on my Firered cart once you got into technicalities, and even though I know, my memory is attempting to be hazy on it
Yeah that line was mad crazy for Mew. Mine was about an hour away too, and on top of it I had to wait an hour in line

My first was a Mew, from the Pokemon Championship in 2000. Was so awesome when they connected the game to a big machine, then passed it back, I check my game and bam, level 5 mew :)
Unfortunatly the game cart broke a few years ago so I lost him. But I do still have my boulder badge for participating.

First event poke was from diamond I think, it was the member card.

Up intill this point out family couldn't go out to the physical events. Regardless of living in FL my parents had job responsibilities and I had no means of transport.

Deoxys from the Deoxys tour back in the day. Don't remember what it was called but I went all the way to Vue in Bristol to get it, got it on my Emerald and LeafGreen and I think a friend's FireRed.
Also remember playing GoD demo there and shit was awesome.

I believe my first event to be Darkrai. I do specifically remember the Darkrai event to preceed the Shaymin event.

But technology is really great. Now you don't have to freaking be in America or Japan just to get event Pokemon. I now have a freaking Deoxys I'm wondering what to do with.

Although I lost all 4th Gen events I got when my DS got stolen...T.T
But I will prevail! A new generation, new beginnings!

Different anon here, but I went to the Vue in Bristol too! Had to get my dad to drive me all the way up there from Exeter. The place was pretty packed so I didn't get to play GoD and I distinctly remember booting up my game once I got to the front of the line for Deoxys and almost instantly running into a wild battle trying to get to a Pokémon Centre. So much spaghetti, I don't even.

Then some cunt at my secondary school stole my Emerald cart and I lost my first ever event Pokémon forever.

Me again. A few years later I went to Plymouth on my own to get one of the DS events - don't remember which - and I got crazy lost, wandered around, eventually found a GAME shop, found out it was the wrong one, found the other one where the event was being held (which I must have walked past at least twice beforehand) and it was already shut down.

TL; DR: I get all my event 'mons online now.

They're still around, but I don't think they're particularly popular any more. Obviously the older and/or more socially awkward fans or the younger ones who can't convince their parents to drive them somewhere - so /vp/, basically - will find other distribution methods or just won't bother.

The last UK one before '13 Meloetta was '12 Keldeo, apparently.

My first was Mew at the Shopping arcade/championship heats tour.

My friend and I had just come back to our home city (Cardiff) after our second year of University and it was 2000. A good time was had by all and we were both really happy that our pokedexes were now completely full, we were the only people we knew that had achieved this feet, which at the time seemed astronomical.

He died in his sleep without warning about four months later.

Every new pokemon game I get I make sure I complete the pokedex as a tribute to him and the good times we shared together as friends and fellow travellers in Kanto.

My first "event" was a Mew a friend mailed in to Nintendo to get. He traded it to me for my Pikachu on Yellow. It was already my second playthrough of yellow so I didn't mind, and basically my "starter" was a fucking Mew that didn't listen to me. It was so much fun.

I made clones and clones of that Mew and traded them to all my Gen 2 games. With Gen 3 I was sad I couldn't do the trade, but...

My first true "event" Pokemon was the MYSTRY Mew. I waited in line for that sucker..I think I was the 4th in line at my TRU. I also gave it the exact same moveset that my old Mew had. Now I use this Mew on every single one of my Post Game teams.

Oh shit I have bunch of these. I don't think they'll get bad unless you have a really wet climate in your house. If you don't want to put them on anything, you could either laminate it, or put it into a flat plastic sheet thing. (like, those things you'd put papers/reports in for school)

Well it was the Only Vue around in that part of the country, Cardiff should have had an event in terms of population centres but at the time it had 3 multiplexes in the City and none of them were Vues and at the time the Plymouth Vue was a Warner Village or something like that. So Bristol where we all ended up.
