Lance pursed his lips, watching the battle with narrowed eyes. He counted one breath. Two. Three.
Cynthia clenched her fist, digging her nails into her palm. One. Two. Three breaths.
The lights subsided. Dragonite's hyper beam faded in a single flash, bringing the dragon down to its fours. Eyes wide, tongue rolled out of its mouth and heavy breaths were proofs of the monomental effort the Hyper Beam took; it was defenseless for the time being.
On the other end of the battle, Garchomp fell down on the ground. Blue flames were still going, and slowly, Garchomp growled, stabbing its claws on t ground and pushing itself up. The blue flames diminished, dying out while the dragon put the effort into getting back on its
feet.It had a bizarre appearance; the whole front part of its body was burnt black, the scales scorched. wounds appered on the joints when it moved, and its mouth was wide open, the tongue thick and sticky pending out of it. The slit eyes were facing towards the general direction of Lance's Dragonite, but out of focus. It was seeing three or four different preys before it, confused.
There was silence. Lance grinned.
"Dragonite, give it another Hyper Beam. It's our victory!" He shouted to his dragon. By now, it should have recovered enough power to...to...
Why wasn't Dragonite standing again? Lance's eyes widened, as he looked from Dragonite to Cynthia. The SInnoh champion crossed her arms.
"Garchomp didn't think where it was hitting, but I did. I just made sure I guided him well enough before the Hyper Beam."
Lance looked back at Dragonite. The dragon was out cold, and he looked at the two deep slashes on its belly.
"Critical Hit..." He said. There was a pause.
"Shit."
"For you, yes. That's my win." Cynthia said, immeditally entering the battle arena and going to her garchomp, producing a Hyper Potion from inside her coat, while Lance cursed under his breath, as he did the same, going for his fallen Dragonite.
