Under 460 BST? That sounds interesting. There are some great gems like Jynx, Hitmons, regular Rotom, Sneasel, Zangoose and Seviper.

I did a Bellsprout solo run of Emerald some time ago. It wasn't *that* hard. It took a lot of very tedious grinding, but it's definitely possible.

The only games where it MIGHT be feasible are Gen5, with the superior Audino grinding making it possible to relatively easily grind to the point where the BST difference between your Pokémon and the powerful ones used by late-game trainers can be ignored in favor of level difference and type advantages. But I can see that being stupidly hard and annoying in any of the previous generations, where the game balance and lack of good grinding options make Legendaries almost a must for everything starting with Victory Road if you don't want to spend 50 more hours grinding.

What the fuck? Yeah, grinding sucked before Audino, but there were still ways to do it and no fucking way were legendaries anything near "a must" at any point.

Can't say I have. closest I've come to that is my FR monobug team. There are only 6 fully evolved bugs in FR before the E4 (well, except scyther) and I'm pretty sure all are below 460 besides scyther and pinsir.

And I completely curbstomped everyone. Butterfree rained down hellfire in the form of compoundeyes sleep powder and whirlwind.

It's not as challenging as you might think. I bet if I played with fully evolved Pokemon and/or Pokemon with BSTs over 460 I'd find the games disappointingly easy.
