I'd like if this was true, Dunsparce needs an awesome evolution. I have always thought of him as the Magikarp of Gen 2. His little wings, chin spikes and pointy tail are just begging to become some kind of dragon, I think.

Yes he does, he's based off the Japanese legend of the Tsuchinoko. Sadly, he's a gimmick, so alongside Farfetch'd, Mawile, Sableye, etc, I doubt he's going to get an evolution
If he evolved into a Dragon it'd be all kinds of awesome, though

But he was how you learned about swarms. You would give your number to Bug Catcher Wade (who you would most likely keep because free berries), and he would alert you that a ton of rare pokemon were in Dark Cave. Considering he was the second NPC trainer to give you their number (first being Joey), chances are Dunsparce is the first swarm pokemon to be encountered.
