Gen 4 and 5 sold more than Gen 3. Gen 4 additionally had HGSS remakes that sold almost as much as Gen 3.
And while Gen 5 sold less than Gen 4, BW2 sold more than any other 3rd version except Yellow
XY is doing great in the pre-order system, and besides even Gen 3, the lowest selling gen sold 13 million on the paired versions and was on top of the GBA
To put this in prespective Skyrim sold 6 million, and most games out there can't even break One million. Like the God Eater series for the PSP that wa s a high-selling game in japan, but according to VGC charts it sold only about a million
So, no, Pokémon is doing great
