When are we going to get an equivalent of Hyrule Historia for the Pokémon franchise?

Imagine: all the prototype Pokémon that never made it. Sugimori's artwork. Maybe the original Capsule Monsters manga published in it...

They will never release the prototypes because all the scraps from the previous generation are placed into the second one. All the ones not good enough for Gen 1 went into Gen 2. All the Pokemon not good enough for Gen 2 went into making Gen 3, and so on...

Be patient.

Unless you really loved Skyward Sword, Hyrule Historia falls a bit short of expectations.

That would be awesome, instant pre-order on the limited collector's edition. Sadly, it will never happen. A lot of material never sees the light of day, which means Game Freak can use it for a following generation. Think of that Clefairy evolution that became Hitmontop and that turtle design that eventually became Carracosta. They'd be unwilling to put their ideas on print if they think there's even the slightest chance it's still usable.

I hate it when people spout this as fact. Just because they drew a sea turtle ten years ago doesn't mean it was a Carracosta. That'd be like if Pikachu wasn't part of the original 151 and later Minun and Plusle were touted as coming from a beta design of an electric mouse.

It wasn't Carracosta, but it most likely served as its primary inspiration. And Plusle and Minun are definitely based of Pikachu. All gens have an electric rodent because of him. If Pikachu weren't part of the original 151, we'd probably be seeing some Clefairy knockoff every new gen.
