Ok first off, they have their elemental attacks a level 5!!! Which means either we get them at an earlier level as starters or we get to start off with Vine Whip/Ember/Bubble which is nice. But what I want to know is how come Chespin & Froakie get Rollout & Quick Attack (respectively) at level 8 and Fennekin has to wait until level 11 only to get Howl?!?!?!

I wonder if you'll get your starter at Level 1, since I doubt they'll pit you against your rival when he has a super effective move against you right off the bat.

BTW, I do like that they get their elemental attacks nice and early. Froakie looks awesome in that status screen.

As for Fennekin, I'm not really seeing the problem. Ember is enough to get you through the first and second gym easily. On your way to the third you'll be in your second form and have another fire move to keep you up to date.

How do you even know that's even the case? Maybe Fennekin just got Howl at level 8 and then leveled 3 more times, but didn't change its moveset because that would be retarded.
Or hell, it learned a different move at level 8 and then replaced it for Howl at level 11.

Ember is simply better than the other attacks. Also Quick Attack is even weaker than Tackle, so it's not that big of a deal.

Maybe it learns something at level 8 that would give its secondary type away, so they put Fennikin at level 11 where it learns howl and replaced that move.

Man there really is going to be no strategy in these first rival battles. I thought if Chespin had Tail Whip his physical attack might do better, but no. Froakie's actually your best bet, Growl will lower Vine Whip's power so you hopefully don't get creamed.
At least fighting your shitty rival will be a breeze. Maybe you fight them first, get a little experience before you fight the stronger type.

its good for damaging certain pokemon or straight up knocking them out, but once it gets hit, your done

All of the other starters could solo the game themselves other than meganium, and infernape can do it too but its too risky to put everything on infernape, especially against Cynthia

The entire point of being fast is being able to knock out your opponent before they can attack, and Infernape pulls that off extravagantly with over 100 base offenses and the previously mentioned 120 base power + STAB moves. Besides, you act like this isn't in-game, where you have unlimited access to switching out (every single new Pokemon your opponent sends out) for the stat losses, and you can't use potions to recover damage.
