Why does GF love the Water type so much? 1/6th of the Pokemon are Water-type. Pretty ridiculous.

Also, Water covers 75% of the pokemon world (which is an analogue of the real world).

Sort of like how a Rock Rhino like Rhyhorn turned into a generic cartoon monster in Rhydon and Rhyperior.

A lot of pokemon start off as one thing and turn into another animal entirely.

Slaking starts off as a Sloth and turns into a Gorilla. Calling it a sloth pokemon is inaccurate even thought that's what it was at one point.

Bug would be more based on Hexapoda (insects and some other thing), Chelicerata (scorpions, spiders,mite...) and Myriapoda ( millipedes and centipedes), still a lot of things.
After 5 gen we still don't have a fly, a centipedes or a termite pokemon.
Bug type could be as varied as water type.

I guess that's kind of why I didn't like the Gen IV legendaries.

That's one definition, sure. But I've already said I don't think it's the most useful definition. And yes, it's controversial enough that there are plenty of real scientists who agree with me. Wikipedia even has an article on "non-cellular life." It comes down to what characteristics you think are most important to defining a living organism. I think reproduction and passing on of hereditary traits is a more useful boundary to draw, because it's the point at which you can start talking about evolution. Given that some viruses may have themselves evolved from bacteria, it gets messy because you have to talk about organisms evolving in and out of being alive. The Golem is, let me correct myself, a CLAY being from Jewish folklore, more or less an incomplete human. Golurk's appearance is based off of this guy here.

I'll bet you think that Darkrai really went to that island on its own accord as opposed to GF re-vamping the story and it's actually really evil. Same goes for Kyurem. I don't think that whole thing about it eating people is a myth. It makes perfect sense.
