So my friend and I want to battle over Wi-Fi and we both have White 2. His game is Canadian, and mine is US. I gave him my friend code, and I made sure it was absolutely 100% correct, and he said it was invalid when I tried to enter it. Then when he gave me his, it gave me the message "Friend code is wrong." What the hell?

According to good ol Bulbapedia, "The games will not accept all Friend Codes manually entered into the Pal Pad and will display that "The Friend Code is wrong" if a code (i.e. 0000 0000 0000) is not valid. The Friend Codes from games of some languages may be incompatible with other games, as occurs when a Korean Friend Code is inserted in an English game, for instance." But both of our copies are from North America and are in English, shouldn't they be compatible?

Is there something we can do to fix it or are we just boned?
