So /vp I was wondering, which would be the lifespan of the common pokemon?

Does it depends on the species or it is just a "pokemon thing"?

If you consider the Pokedex accurate, it depends on species, since it refers to Ninetails for living 1,000 years. If all Pokemon lived that long, it wouldn't be worth mentioning.

I'd say it depends on the species, but can be generalised to type. Some are very short-lived (plenty of Bug-types), some can live for over centuries (Rock- and Steel-types), some are nigh-immortal (Ghosts). That's just my headcanon though, no idea if there's any official lifespan.

I figure the reason why Ghosts are effectively immortal is because they're not actually alive, so saying they have a "life span" is a misnomer.

I imagine Dragon-types are the longest lived, oftentimes outliving their trainers.

My headcanon is that Grass-types have life spans relative to their time spent in the sun. If they get an ample amount of photosynthesis, they can live for centuries. If one hatches in a dank, dark basement without any way out, it would probably not live more than a few days.

Ninetales lives to 1000 years old and that's a common pokemon.

I'm certain most legendaries live for a long time, and some are probably ageless (Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus)

I would think it depends mostly on the pokemon, although there is no real way to tell how fast any pokemon ages. Even I have problems musing about how long pokemon can live. I think I more think in terms of what stage of their life they're in. Are they a child? adolescent? adult? middle aged? old?
