Water Pokemon attacks are accompanied with some sort of harmful bacteria that makes it more lethal, it has an extra effect of Fire, Ground, and Rock Pokemon because their bodies lack a resistance to this sort of bacteria.

I just figured that pokemon with visible flames on their body wouldn't like water, but those who produced their flames internally would ok.

You can also think of it like this, what hurts more: a kiddy pool full of water or a fire hose shooting water at you a high speed/a wave crashing into you.

Pokemon techs are powered by chi or aura what the fuck ever you want to call it. Elements are created using the corresponding type's energy as fuel, stronger attacks have both whatever they grant and more of this power behind them, etc. Weaknesses range from almost entirely natural (dropping most of a lake on a charmander) to almost entirely reliant on this energy (psychic type weaknesses and phobia relations).

Brock was an autistic level retard for filling his sprinkler system with discount water type shit, and now his pokemon get 'nam flashbacks from all bodies of water.

It's simple, guys. Normal water for the most part doesn't outright harm most fire types or certain other Pokemon unless their bodies have a certain quality to them.

A fire type that would be visibly made out of fire or the like would have more issues with water than a fire type that doesn't have visible fire, or doesn't have the threat of dying if its fire goes out (Charmander line). However, even then they can deal with water.

Houndour/Doom, Vulpix, Growlithe, and many of those other Pokemon could deal with normal water just fine, and could likely enjoy taking baths or whatever else.

It's also likely that water doesn't really harm them at all. It just makes it more difficult for them to use their abilities and/or dampens them.

That episode was hilarious because it had looping animation. During the part where Team Rocket was sucking the spring water they made it look like many houndooms and houndours (among other Pokemon) were in the bath.
