Restrictions on xrosing were terrible and the designs were uninspired, mostly just being the base Digimon with a weapon from the "xrosed" Digimon.
Remember when Yuu was the best Xroser to exist? In the final battle of Xros Wars 1, he turned the tide of a hopeless battle by using unique xroses the main characters would never have thought up. Now recall him in Xros Wars 2. He Xrosed ONCE the whole series and that was just to help Taiki make X4.
Tagiru was never a good character (and never not annoying), but the way he was basically shoved on me as the hero in the end even though he was the worst fighter there was disgusting.
Oh yeah, and remember all of those Digimon they hunted that were supposed to be used for Xrosing? Yeah, me neither.
