Hello /vp/.

I haven't really been interested in a Pokemon game since Emerald. I've heard good things about Black & White, but am wondering if I should go ahead and get B&W 2 instead? Are there any huge differences? Any reason not to?

I only have 5 badges and I was just trying to get all 8 badges so I can poketransfer and then trade pokes to b2 and play through the game with them, but what key?

Honestly, in hindsight Black and White 1 aren't great. There's almost no postgame and the region feels very cramped without the extensions that BW2 brought. That said, BW1 has a much better story, so I suppose it depends on what you play the games for.

I'll agree that gen 3 is the best, since Emerald's my favourite, but if you think gen 5 has any more shit designs than gen 3 then you are the biggest double nigger I've seen in a while

I just thought that the extra challenge would be fun, but you needn't worry about the Regi keys, as long as you have both versions you can transfer them easily.

HGSS was less linear. After beating morty you could head west to olivine or east to mahogany. The kanto badges could be gathered in any order desired. But Platinum was good too.

Platinum is even more linear than DP was. In DP, you could take on either Maylene or Crasher Wake as your third gym whereas in Platinum you're pretty much shoehorned into doing Fantina, Maylene, and Crasher in that order.

I didn't assume that the order of gyms dictated linearity.
Therefore Gen 3 is the least linear since you can fight Brawly 7th I think.

If we're not going by gym order, what means would we have to judge linearity by? Don't get me wrong, Platinum is my favorite title and all, but I still felt more restricted in my choices as opposed to DP.

Gym order is one factor. The number of routes you can take is a other. That's BW/BW2 sucked. They were way too linear.
