Snorlax -Snorlax IS gen 2
Skarm -Phys Wall, Phaze
Bliss -Spec Wall, Cleric
Starmie/Fortress/Cloyster - Spinner, /Spikes
Zapdos/Raikou/Jolteon - Strong Electric
Other - complementary attacker/support
Mix and match accordingly.
You can use Miltank as your Cleric, while gaining valuable a status platform, but then lack a strong special wall.
You can use Fortress/Cloyster as a spinner who can set up Spikes, but you're outsped and dealt with Starmie [Fortress needs Spikes damage in order to 2HKO Starmie on switch in], so you may want to use Raikou/Jolteon as your electric Poke to deal with it.
If you want to Stall, Charm Umbreon/Perishtrap Misdreavus are options, and do well enough against Snorlax.
If you're using a simulator/event Pokemon, you get a whole mess of Lovely Kiss Pokemon [uggh, Lovely Kiss Snorlax], and Growth Pokemon, the best of which is Growth Vaporeon, probably the only boosting special attacker to do well in Gen 2.
Status is king, not quite like it was in Gen 1, but still game-changingly important. Have dedicated status users, and having a Cleric is immensely valuable [also synergizes well with Restalkers for additional team synergy].
