but the reason why I hate gen 4 is because pokemons you catched learnt no fucking useful moves by leveling.
Toxicroak doesn't learn a single fucking move by leveling, hipoppotas takes a fucking ton to learn a useful earth attack, etc

is just my opinion, but damn it enrages me

I was thinking about Kanto/Gen 1 while having a bath a few hours ago.
It was the first game, born out of a humble concept as Satoshi wanted to make a game out of his bug-catching hobby.
This shows in how, let's say , low-key it is. You start in a really small town, go through a pretty simple forest, reach some not too flashy cities, go through some brown caves, etc
It is like if Kanto is some country region.
This was probably due to hardware limitation too, but that is not nearly as interesting to said.
