>>12463086For Latin, forests don't directly point to bugs, not in the slightest. In pokemon, a forest can mean several things. If I was supposed to use process of elimination, the other eons don't require you to know about the rest of them to figure out their type, at least not as far as names go. Does anything about Sylveon look like that butterfly? No. If the imagery was supposed to point to that, it would've been more obvious. Not to mention the bow is the only thing that would relate to that. Everything else has no context whatsoever. If I was supposed to land on the butterfly just through the matter that butterflies were indicated, and the name is the specification, one would have to actually know about scientific names to even make that conclusion. The Japanese education system might be that good, but WE ARE NOT. The localization would know this, and they would attempt to make it more obvious. By the way, this conclusion is not as specific in Japanese, and the German doesn't match up whatsoever unless someone can look that up. Espeon may only have a forehead jewel to go off of, but at least the coloring would provide a good hint that isn't so obscure. With this, the symbolism is too complex for laymen to understand, and even then, using a general butterfly shape to point to where you need to go would drive even scientists bonkers. You need to be more specific than that. The ribbons would still make no sense, care to explain that? So that the bows can exist? That's a flimsy excuse. If the bows are all that's important, then the ribbons are not necessary. It doesn't add up.
