>>12466776Of course. weather you like something or not is subjective, but at the same time, there's things you can and can't pass off as objective facts. Putting words into the creator's mouths is just stupid. "They were lazy/just threw together whatever/were drunk" and other shit like that isn't an argument and just talks down on the artist's efforts. Same with basing your judgements on what the pokemon IS. If I hated spiders a lot, I wouldn't shit all over a spider pokemon's design just for that. You have to be able to put into words how well or poorly you think the design and the theme work together. You also have to know what you're talking about. It's like some guy the other day complaining about Zoroark's face markings without knowing what kabuki is. It's basically: Do you think the Vanillish line effectively combined elements of icicles and ice cream in a unique and appealing way? Sure, some aspects are ALWAYS going to be subjective, like the faces, because I like when pokemon look a bit doofy, but other elements can be discussed without resorting to calling the designers lazy or shouting about it being ice cream.
For instance, despite my like for the pokemon, maybe they could have done better on the arms, since they don't really read well as arms unless it's in motion. I also think that the wafer as an icy air vent was a good idea.
