And then I laughed at the kids who used Bulbasaur because they planned for the first two gyms, and then got destroyed by Zubats in Mt. Moon.

Whell it's still in OU. But by that logic Torchic is the best starter.
Leave it to personall prefference.
Treecko is the best starter for me. If only they would finnaly give it something to utilize its SpA with or redistribute the SpA points into Att.

Zubats in Mt. Moon don't even have any good moves yet, it's a breeze to make it through with just Bulbasaur.

Even then, by the time you reached LT. Surge using only squirtle, it would be a lvl 30+ wartortle and ready to kick ass all by itself
