But really, Pokemon has been doing this since Season 1, and while shoehorns like "Gotta Catch 'em All, Pokemon" or occasionally yelling "Pokemon Johto!" might be more familiar, I don't think it's any more or less awkward than any recent themes, going by your criteria. I'm not saying that every recent theme has been a masterpiece, just that they've been relatively consistent(ly sub-mediocre) across all 16 seasons, in my opinion. Of course, there have been outliers (Unbeatable, or (ugh) Diamond & Pearl), but for the most part, I don't think the quality has changed too much.
