I just copy and paste all the images to a slide in Microsoft Power Point. Highlight over everything once theyre all on place. Right click and select "Save as picture". Boom, thats all it takes. I can't really into photoshop or anything and quite frankly, i think this is easier.
As for the images, you want to make sure they have a transparent background. The images on Bulbapedia are good for this.
