Space on the game cart. Music takes up a LOT of space in a game, so it was either reuse / remix a lot of cries or make you deal with a much smaller soundtrack for it all to fit well.

They should at least use the stadium cries or something, though... When we have pokemon that are legit barking, we should have a few better noises for the older pokemon.

The Gen 1 cries desperately need updating. It's jarring to have the much better later-generation cries juxtaposed with the dialup tone screeches from the Gen 1 pokemon.

Imagine if new pokemon were added in each new game as per usual, but the sprites never changed, so that Gen 1 pokemon still had their original sprites right next to Gen 5 pokemon wit their much-better sprites. Imagine how fucking jarring that would be. Well that's exactly what's going on with their cries.

thats the stupidest idea ever. havent you noticed that in the past 4 generations after, gamefreak has remained loyal to the fanbase keeping at least the cries of pokemon nostalgic. even gametrailers reviews of black and white said they should change the cries. you people really dont know how to cater to a community. next youll want gamefreak to take a look at your devianart designs
