Successfully defeated Falkner with no casualties, this is my team in Azalea Town training for Bugsy.

Per my rules, I can only use 3 Pokémon against Bugsy; I'll be using Jacques, Clapton and Parker.

Will probably train Jacques to 17 (need wing attack) and Clapton to 16 before battling Bugsy.

Been doing a nuzlocke through Platinum. Got fucking rolled just now...

Flew through the game, with Avancee (Empoleon), Kageshin (Gliscor), Grim-Cries (Houndoom) and Silver (Staraptor).. My only notable casualty being Cryptex, my Porygon.

Got past Crasher Wake, and was heading past the route with the drunken psyducks.. out of nowhere, that Ace Trainer duo with their Raichu and Gyarados systematically swept my team.. I was so fucking pissed.

So, I lost, but i'm continuing through till I beat it anyway. I'm counting it as a failure, but I'd like to see how far I can get anyways.. plus I got lucky and caught a Gible on my way through..

HeartGold is fun with it's choices, but is a little hard because of how shitty the level scaling is between the trainers and wild pokemon.. so you end up having to grind against super low levelled pokemon.

If you do Platinum, I'd only do it if you allow the "no doubles" rule.. Almost every route in the game has Geodude and Bidoof, so you'll end up with like 50 of each if not. Otherwise, Platinum has some great choices.

Beat Bugsy quite easily with Clapton and Jacques. Clapton's rock throw destroyed Metapod and Kakuna and Jacques' wing attack and supersonic got Scyther.

Proceeded to beat my rival without a casualty and Parker evolved after the battle.

Hedwig accidentally killed the Oddish I could have caught in Ilex Forest, am hoping to get lucky with Heracross in Azalea Town right now

Well I've had my first casualty. First two actually.

Only the bright side, I did catch a Heracross on Route 33. It died trying to catch Aristotle on Route 34 however.

Aristotle then died soon after when I was trying to train it, I just didn't expect SonicBoom on that Voltorb!

Am about to go about grinding for Whitney: Any suggestions on a team to battle her? Keep in mind I can only use 2 Pokémon because of my rules

Between gyms 7 and 8 on my Blaze Black 2 Nuzlocke, I wiped out once before Elesa and all I had left was Victini and Gothita so I trained them. Had 15+ casualites so far, i'm left with:
Lanturn (59)
Gigalith (59)
Victini (63)
Cottonee (48) (Training now)

I've got a few semi-decent reserves now, thinking of training up dwebble next. I just lost my braviary and excadrill before/during Drayden ;_;

I have an idea for a Nuzlocke that never ends, well not anytime soon anyway.

Standard rules of course but with a little twist of Groundhog Day.

The problem with Nuzlockes is that it was meant to force you to use Pokes that you normally wouldn't use. Well what if I never use Scyther? For the most part you will never be able to use one during a Nuzlocke by natural means.

The idea is that every time I reach the hall of fame and get that picture then whatever Pokemon is on that picture (and still alive) would no longer bond by "only the first Poke you see" rule. So for example if during my first cycle if I have a Pikachu (most likely a Raichu then) survive and have his picture taken then on the next cycle I am free to ignore the rule when it come to the Pikachu line allowing me to maybe train a Caterpie or Weedle next time even though the first Pokemon I saw in the area was a Pikachu.

Sooner or later if you repeat this loop enough the Safari Zone have no choice but to have Scyther the first Pokemon you see within the rules as by then all other Pokemon in it won't be following that rule. Of course the pain in the ass catch rate and Pokemon being able to flee won't make it too easy.

While the other Pokes won't be following that one rule to keep yourself from unbeatable you still can only chance one Poke per area and they can still die of course. If you caught everything in that area then you can catch whatever you wish but still have to follow the death and one per area rules.

Is this a retarded idea for one reason or another or what? Looking for second opinions.

I lost to the aqua grunt in the petalburg woods. He had Togetic with metronome. On the first turn he gets thunder and OHKOes my Pelipper. On the second turn he gets water spout and OHKOes my Diglett. Ledyba and Sunker actually lasted a few turns but at that point I was pretty much given up bcause the level difference, should've levelled those guys...

Nearly didn't make it through Whitney though, that damn cow would not let Clapton attack what with it's Stomp flinch hax and attract hax.

Won Voltorb flip enough to be able to afford to teach Parker swords dance so my main bro should be fine for now (unless I do something stupid)

I had Hayley down to red and poisoned, ready to catch but my great ball was not good enough. Had to use my ultra ball or else risk not catching anything on Route 36.

Will spend tomorrow grinding my Pokémon to around level 24 and then on Tuesday will catch a bug in the contest before heading on to Ecruteak.

Yeah, could be worse, but could be better:
I have 2 casualities already, Mace the Hitmonlee and Tron the Alakazam. Mace was the first one to bite the dust: tried to do some grindan with wild pokemon, found a forretress and like a dumbass decided to battle him. Naturally it exploded on the first turn, OHKOing my Hitmonlee. The death of tron was very similar, but instead of my own stupidity, that event was pure bullshit. The very first trainer, that youngster who normally has a level 5 poochyena, had a friggin Regirock. I tried to switch Tron to Habanero, who could've taken the incoming boom, but OF-FUCKING-COURSE that walking nuke had shadow tag. I had no choice but use kinesis and pray for the explosion to miss. Which it didn't do.

I'll post again when I reach Rustboro city.

Had a chance to catch a Gligar and a Lickitung, but I was unsuccesful in both cases. Gligar poisoned my both dudettes, and I didn't want to risk them dying before I could reach the pokemon center. I had only one antidote, which I used on Ludicolo, but she got poisoned again. Lickitung was at red health and paralyzed, but I still couldn't catch him, wasted 15 pokeballs and a premier ball on that assface.

Well fuck. Got my ass handed to me once again, this time by Brawly himself. He had Steelix and remoraid, which I swept away with no problems, but then he unleashed the destoyer of galaxies, a PORYGON! To be honest I thought it would be a piece of cake, but oh boy was I wrong. He just sponged all my hits and countered with psy beam. I really can't describe it better. He just fucked up everything. Brawly used two super potions on him too, and being the dumbass that I am, I forgot to buy my own potins before this battle. So, an early end for my journey, time to curl in my feelings and sob. Charge Beam is important because I need Electric coverage.
Hypnosis is fine, its just there for catching and such.
You're right though, Headbutt is slightly better. Kept Stomp as I thought the flinch chance was higher but it is actually the same now that I check.

I do like Butterfree a lot, its just so frail.

It's up to you though, but try and play with different pokes to make the game more satisfying.
Don't go into a cave and attempt to find a certain guy only to catch him on level 3 of that cave.

No real progress has been made since defeating the armies of Morty at the battle of Ecruteak City. But vital reconnaissance has been made to better plan for our future actions, since we are at a crossroad.

Since Jasmine has order her troops to make a tactical withdrawal we have two options. To the south west on the secluded Cianwood City to face the strength of Chuck's forces, or to the west and face the Veteran Pryce of Mahogany Town and the trouble brewing in the Lake of Rage.

While I take the various options and how to approach them into consideration I need to prepare the troops for the challenges either way.

For the time being I have given Cadet Togepi leave, because I'm honestly not sure if he can pull his own weight without putting the rest of the squad in jeopardy. Instead I brought in the muscles of Major Heracross, a gutsy soldier yet a bit of a loner.

The path of war leads straight to hell, but we have no choice but to brave on...

Again Roxanne has 2 Tyranitars. They are no match for Nidorino, so she sends out Golem. Nidorino has a hard time against Golem so I send out Larvitar. After a short toe-to-toe battle Golem selfdestructs taking out Larvitar in the process.

I actually like keeping them boxed. I find it more painful because if I need to go into the PC to drop off a pokemon or pick one up, it reminds me of how many I've lost and each and every time I did. If I release them I end up only focused on the individual incident. If I box them I go through all of them every time.

It's not as bad as, say, using the dupes clause or something, but it's still messing with one of the main rules of Nuzlocke. You can play it however you want (plenty of people do the "graveyard box" thing), but I prefer to do it the good 'ol fashioned way. Released when they die. Makes their loss more memorable.

What's so bad about dupes clause? No point in getting Rattata and Pidgey every route. I utilize that clause to make sure I don't have a chance to use a Pokemon species again so that if I lose one I really lose the chance to play with that kind of Pokemon/etc.

Yeah no. Doesn't make it any easier, especially if you limit the amount of dupes you encounter before you give up on an area, such as 3-5.
Level caps aren't in the original rules either, which makes for some the adventure a major grind instead of a challenge particularly. You can win anything if you grind enough- yet that's not a rule.

I don't think its silly. That's kind of dismissive really. No need for dismissive behavior. Everyone plays by different rules and none are 'bad' or 'wrong' unless its something such as "Pokemon can faint and still be used." That's the big rule in my opinion.

It kind of does. It's basically making sure that you have a more diverse choice of Pokemon to chose from on your team. Like I said, people play how they want, so more power to them, but the rule just doesn't sit right with me since it's tinkering with one of the main rules.

I did a poison run so I used Crobat and had a Muk on my team.
Muk isn't bad, hits like a train with some good poison moves plus he has pretty good defense.
Just avoid ground/psychic if you're using him in a nuz.

Seriously, I'll be on a roll, then just get whipped by the Twins, and the next time I'll lose to the fucking fire bitch because Torkoal will go crazy with Para-body-Slammin' and Overheating.

I once had a perfect situation going. Not perfect, many had died, but I had a solid core. I fought the flying gym, had a plan. Curse Torkoal up, win. My other people were weak to flying or Alteria's Earthquake. Anyway, bitch goes from the little bird to Alteria before I even have a chance to set up, then I lose everyone because the order she sent out her Pokemon changed.

Is it just me? I aced the Leaf Green Nuzlocke. Only lost two guys. But this. I've filled graveyards and I can't remember the last time I saw Sootopolis.

By the way, my special rules are just no double, and I don't mean "already have Poochy, get to try again," I mean "already have Poochy, so I get nothing."

You pick mudkip, hope to god you get a tailow or wurple. find a zubatman, and grind. grind til there are tears in your eyes.
your final team should have a grass, an electric, an earthquack, and a special attacker. Emerald is hard because Hoenn did not give viable movesets until end game (shedinja doesnt learn an offensive ghost type move until 38, grovyle's second grass type move is at 29). plus the special physical split fucks me up a lot.

Nah, I lost to the champion on my first attempt, lost to the twins a few times and randomly lost to different leaders throughout Hoenn.
I think it's the combo of the gym leaders over healing their team and shitty moves/types throughout the game that makes it challenging.
Then again, some people have no trouble at all with emerald and I always see people complain about gsc, which are, imo the easiest to nuz.

Swampert has failed me so many times that it's not worth it to me just to be able to get passed Wattson easily. I just can't predict when some asshole is going to have a giga-draining Zigzagoon or some shit. Over-leveling Grovyle does the trick in cases where I don't see Makuhitu or Aron for Wattson. And even Aron has trouble. Cheri Berries and Grovyle do good enough.

Anyway, I'm glad it's not just me.

Also. There's like 3 Wobbafett in that one tower. Like. Unless you plan for that, you're losing someone to those Wobbafett. I've had Torkoal w/ Curse the last few times, but fuck. If you just happen to have someone with 4 attacks infront when one of 'em pops in, god rest its soul.

Try opening your Desktop in Windows Explorer, hit Alt, and open Tools>>Folder Options>>View then scroll to Hide Extensions for know types and uncheck the box. It could be a .part file, which either means it didn't download properly or it didn't save properly.
Either that or you haven't got winzip/winrar set up right somehow.

I admit I didn't go to route 46 because I wanted to take a chance at the mons in the unreachable part of the route later on. At least, I think I remember that route correctly. Maybe I did just pass up a good chance.

Lost Nuke halfway through the E4 (to Marshal's Sawk), then N's Reshiram destroyed my team, killing Renee, Valiant and Omega (I forgot Zekrom is added to your party upon capture and since I had a 5-poke party due to Nuke dying I had to use it); as for Ghetsis, Lacoste made quick work of cofagrigus, then Hydreigon happened, it outsped my whole team, something I realized quite painfully when Mienshao got one-shot before being able to do anything, luckily Mat was able to beat it thanks to two Focus-Misses in a row; then Seismitoad was piece of cake, as were Bisharp and Eelektross, but Bouffalant killed Lacoste with a crit Head charge, to which Mat responded with a crit Return.

And so it ended, with only the very first pokemon I caught with me, funny thing is, what N said about my pokemon in Accumlua town liking me really got to me, since I only had Lillipup and Oshawott at the time and Oshawott was the first poke I lost

I solo'd Eusine with Parker, which was awesome. I've never used an Umbreon before, it's fucking great. I'm really glad I evolved him.

After that I walked into the Gym, walked up to the first guy who had a Hitmonchan, and then lost my Fearow to a Thunder Punch. I almost lost Arnold too but he hung on. I stored Mosquite and caught a Tentacool and cruel. Panzer should be a good wall for Chuck.

I thought that was a good place to stop for tonight.

Grinding up 5 new champs at victory road after only having one pokemon of my inital team left, oddly enough it's my Swampert who isn't that formidable..But god has he seen some shit.

Guise, the only region I haven't done a successful nuzlocke on is Unova. I've tried and I've tried but I have yet to make it very far (the furthest I can recall making it is past gym 4 in both B and B2)
Which of the games are easier to nuzlocke in your opinion, the originals or the sequels? Also which version do I play along with that (Black or white)

Remakes tend to be harder. Abilities and such give the gym leaders and E4 better strategies.

Let alone in G/S/C where you can have an abra (buy at game corner) running elemental punches as kadabra before you fight whitney. If you can survive whitney he can basically tank the rest of the game, 1-hitting lance's dragonites at ~level 42 with ice punch

Well it's over.
I lost Bubbles to Houndoom. She couldn't one-shot him after he got off a nasty plot and she flinched on the dark pulse so, I couldn't out damage it

Then I lost Max to a critical Dragon Rush after I managed to get off a reflect.

Could have gone better, but definitely could have gone worse

The dupes clause is one of the most hotly contested rules in nuzluckes, and one of the most commonly used.

If I had to guess most likely a majority of nuzlocke players use it for the sake of variety, but some purists are strongly against it.
