It's terrible base HP means that even if you do manage to survive long enough to use Flare Blitz, it will lose half it's HP after every hit.

Darmanitan and Arcanine will always be superior.

Facade, Flame Charge, Rest and Sleep Talk while holding a Toxic Orb is one option, but Flareon isn't really bulky enough to take many hits and it's walled hard by rock types. And relying on Sleep Talk is far from ideal.

It's going last, it's going to take a hit, and then it's going to take a lot of damage on top of that due to recoil. It's still not good by any stretch of the imagination.

People don't want Flareon to get Flare Blitz because it'll magically become competitive; they want it because it's a fucking joke that Flareon is a fire type with astronomical Attack and the strongest physical fire attack it learns is fucking fire fang. It's just sad to see.

The only thing that could really help it would be a fire type extremespeed. That way you wouldn't have to care about initial speed, it would beat all the other priority users (especially scizor and breloom) and it would have its niche compared to Darmanitan and Arcanine.

Darmanita's HP is pretty high. 105 HP allows Darmanitan to soak up several Flare Blitzes before going down. Flareon has a meager base 65 HP. Which means, if by some miracle Flareon survives the oponnent's onslaught he'll just kill himself.

>Attack
Darmanitan has 140 Attack Flareon has 130. Both stats are very high so no complaints.

>Speed
Darmanitan sits at base 95 speed, that while not sanic fast is enough to outpace most Pokémon and make him a good candidate for a Scarf set. Flare Blitz users can't afford to take damage, othwise they'd die in no time. And that's Flareon comes in with that shitastic base 65 speed. Which of course means almost everything can outspeed him and destroy him. It's also too low for a viable Scarf set.

>Ability
Darmanitan gets Sheer Force. And while Flare Blitz won't be burning anything, Darmanitan gets mroe ang for his buck. A great ability overall. Flareon gets Guts which gives him a attack boost when statused. Now the only two status that can be used while interrupting the Pokémon performance are burn and poison. Flareon is immune to burn, so he has to rely on Toxic Orb which does exponencial damage and that will kill him in 4 turns (assuming he even survives that long) or he has to hope to nail some toxic spikes for it to work.

tl;dr Flareon is still pathetic

That and its name is Flareon! Yeah I know, it's Japanese name is Booster. Too bad while its cousins were learning Acid Armor, and Agility, it learned Leer for four generations. Damn thing still can't actually boost anything without TM assistance.

I'm starting to wonder if Flareon's continued awfulness was intentionally done just to stir up conversations- like the Sylveon type mystery. Cause this has been going on for like seventeen years now, and they're are few pokes that get mentioned more often on this board.

It's so lame, because looking at Flareon's offical art, it's supposed to be the badass of the eeveelutions. The rest of them are portrayed as cute or mysterious, even Jolteon has a cute grin going on. Flareon looks pretty mad in its art.
