As someone who doesn't find it all that attractive, I think it's really just something about the bastardization of childhood icons that makes it pleasant. Perhaps it subconsciously helps one rationalize still playing the games by providing a more primal and "mature" motivation to do so by sexualizing the characters. I dunno'. It's a fairly interesting phenomenon, though.
