While Geodude, Graveler, Roggenrola and Boldore aren't brilliant, Golem and Gigalith are pretty cool. And the Zubat line is much better that the Woobat line, and that's before you even consider Crobat. Drilbur's line may be competitively better, but I've always prefered Sandshrew. And Liepard is a faggot.

Grimer and Muk aren't that bad, simple =/= ugly
Electrode is kinda lazy, but I like him
Exeggutor is cool
Magneton is pretty darn amazing

Have you used one? It's great once it evolves into a Golbat, as it has decent Speed and usable attacking stats. Swoobat only has Speed, it's Special Attack is usable but everything else is shit (especially its defense which is pitiful). And once Golbat evolves, you've got yourself a fully-fledged rape train.

i actually really like Crobat. It's just Zubat and Golbat appearing in EVERY SINGLE CAVE for 4 regions just makes it impossible for me to like those two.

S/Woobat doesnt even appear in every cave in Unova.

Woobat did appear in every cave apart from Chargestone Cave, Giant Chasm and Seaside Cave. Roggenrola/Boldore did appear in every cave. They're hardly different from Zubat/Geodude.

I've thought about this, and to me, it's not really about particular pokemon (each generation has shitty-looking pokemon), it's more the art style. Many of the newer pokemon just don't look terribly organic or animal-like. Can't think of all of the ones like that off the top of my head. But many have straight lines on their bodies, and they just look smooth/flat. I dunno, a bit hard to explain.

Have Genwunners not considered there's an incredibly good reason there's so many Pokemon in Gen V similar to Gen I? Being set in America rather than Japan, the same Pokemon would adapt and evolve differently to their environment.
Think of it like Grey and Red Squirrels. Same animal, different countries.
Garbodor and Muk, same Pokemon, different countries. Garbodor is comprised of all the garbage from American/Unova streets and Muk is comprised of...Japanese nuclear run-off or some shit.
