What newer game should I play?

I played Gen I/II when I was younger. Something similar to these games but with updated features. I was thinking firered?

If it was me, I would play something new; Emerald, Platinum, B/W(2). But I suppose you want the exact same thing, so play HG/SS, at least it's only a sequel and not a remake.

No, just play blue or yellow, they are the best games to date, and the graphics are there only real downside at all.

I hate every fibre of your being.

Anyways, I'd suggest playing Emerald, Platnuim or B/W2 for a new experience, or HG/SS if you want an awesome remake. While firered wasn't terrible, it IS pretty much the same game as Red/Blue.
