I did this way too often to Quilava/Typhlosion on my Gold playthroughs as a kid. I'd box them or dumped them at the daycare around level 30-40 and get something else, despite that line being my favourite fire starter line.
Young me is confusing.

I didn't use my starter in White 2. The Unova starters are so crappy that I didn't want to use any of them. First time I've done that.

Meh I even used my starter as a 6th man in White. Serperior had enough balk and speed to counter most ground, rock, and water types and act as a derp to heal up my team or as an emergency guy to finish battles. Different from every other gen where I nearly soloed with my starters.
