Imagine pokemon is rock paper scissors, and different playstyles or strategies are the three different actions.

Stall is constantly delaying choosing one in order to frustrate your opponent and make them forfeit

Being able to go first can be helpful early on before youve amased several boosts. Stab is a 50% increase which is very significant, and being able to burn gives you insane physical bulk.

Nothing to do with player decisions outside of the immediate battle like forfeiting.
