My biggest problem with Gen 5 Pokemon designs:

I actually think Stoutland is pretty cool looking. But yes Gen 5 had some of the worst stage 3 designs (Not terrible necessarily, just kind of overblown). I did like Duosion, Eelectross, Chandelure, Haxorus and Hydreigon

No it isn't. Just because a pokemon keeps it's general body shape and color scheme doesn't mean it's "The same thing only bigger". There are plenty of features that set Lillipup and it's evolutions apart, they aren't drastic changes, but it's enough to make them all distinguishable and convey the different stages of Lillipup's growth into Stoutland.

It you want to find pokemon that are truly guily of that, look at gen I.

Literally the same pokemon only slightly bulkier with angry eyes

>Grimer -> Muk

Bigger with angry eyes.

>Seel -> Dewgong

Longer version of Seel, without the tongue

Get's bigger. Add one more head and a few feathers... oh and of course, the angry eyes.

Depends on the previous evolutions.

Take Stoutland, for instance. Looking at Lillipup and Herdier, we think "Oh, this guy is evolving into a bigger, more imposing dog."

Is Stoutland bigger and more imposing? Sure, if you ignore his stupidly long mustache and fur overcoat that droops down to his ankles.

And there's the problem. Stoutland IS a "bigger and meaner" Pokemon, in the sense that he's just just an exaggeration of traits from his previous stages. But it goes so far past looking cool or interesting, it goes straight into silly and stupid.

In this instance, I agree. I stopped using him once he evolved into Stoutland. However, the only other fully evolved from 5th gen that I hated was Conkeldurr. Stupid line in general anyway IMO

1. The male sprite bothers me so much. I know it shouldn't, but it does. I hate it.

2. Every time I found a Pokemon I thought was kind of cool, I would look it up to see what I could do with it, and it almost always had terrible stats and a minuscule movepool. Terrible stats everywhere.
