Here is where you draw, request and ask for critique.
This is not a thread strictly for requests and delivery, nor is it a thread for mundane ass patting and ignorance. This is a thread for /vp/-generated artistic content, discussion and growth. We are a community, we should act like it; because at the end of the day, we're all here to have fun and maybe learn a thing or two.
Requesters are free and welcome to request art from the artists who frequent, however please have some degree of courtesy. If your request is not taken, just try your luck on a different day. Spamming "bumps" or whining isn't pleasant for anyone. If, however, your request is taken, even the smallest of a "thank you" means a lot to any growing artist. Keep in mind that these are people just like you.
New artists are also welcome and encouraged, regardless of skill level. Even if you firmly believe you "suck" at first, we can help you. So please, don't hesitate to come in. You are free to post your individual, non-requested work, however if you aren't seeking critique or actual feedback it is recommended you post elsewhere. No one likes a whore or a high horse.
Spectator feedback is highly encouraged, just don't be a prick. Pointing out flaws and giving suggestions will take an artist by leaps and bounds, just insulting them won't.
If you're really set on having your request done, it's within your best interests to copy and paste your request into a new thread when it has been made. Once the old thread 404s your request will no longer be able to be read and you have no chance of having it done. Remember patience is key.

I should put this on my shet, I really don't like to draw "boys". I don't put this yet because I don't know how to put this in words, I wouldn't mind drawing Alder, Steven, Gold or even Hilbert, but Nate and Curtis for me is a no. Plus is a very complicated drawing, it's 3 characters plus the scenery and this became a big problem when you're drawing something you don't like.

Re-upping: There is hope for anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort necessary to help their own abilities grow and progress. There is no wall that just prevents people from achieving artistic merit simply because life doesn't want them to (unless you're a quadriplegic or something, you get my point), like any other skill it's a simple matter of training yourself up to greater heights.
You may look around and see great art and think something akin to "I could never do that", when this simply isn't true. By all means you indeed /could/, you just don't know how to. That's what separates an experienced artist from a fresh beginner - the experienced artist looks at a canvas and 'sees' in his mind what he wants before he even begins, the novice simply doesn't know where to start.
This is a skill which, like everything else, comes to the patient in their own due time. Think of it like a drive through a aesthetically pleasing countryside, wherein artistic skill is at the end and you're at the beginning. Everyone else who shares this hobby is on the road as well, only isolated from each other in the sense that no one can be physically blocked from reaching the end by another. There is no rush to finish, because the fun is in the trek to said goal. Person A may prefer to speed through, person B might take triple that time at their own leisure. Person B needn't sacrifice their own enjoyment to beat person A to the finish because there's no reward for doing so.
Art isn't a competition, in fact, unless you're reliant upon it as your profession (or you're a dick) it's one of the most noncompetitive hobbies you can partake in. This is because drawing is much more about the journey than it is the destination.
So don't worry that you don't have much confidence now, because it doesn't matter. It isn't about anyone else, it's about you, and you will progress at your own pace. Only you can prevent yourself from learning and achieving
greatness.So get going.

I usually draw lines in separate layers only to find that correcting them realistically entails in more layers to make sure they're ordered right....

>>12570525 so multiple sketch passes? my advice is to refine your sketch as much as needed on a single layer or mayyybe two, then make a layer over that and trace everything. Sometimes I use the pen tool for long, difficult curves, then make it look a bit more natural by going over a few spots by hand if necessary. Lineart is tedious and takes a while but really you're just tracing the sketch and worrying about where the line weight is going. Your hand-eye coordination will improve over time.

You'll have a lot of freedom if you're not afraid to just keep on chipping away at a sketch until it looks good. We've all had to erase entire limbs and bodies before but that's fine. A lot of my sketching process is just erasing-adding-erasing-adding. its okay if your under structure is on the same layer, you're just gonna erase it, and if you accidentally hit a line you wanted, you can just scribble it back in because it's not going to be perfect finalized until you line it on the next layer up

>>12571483 nah your process has applications, but I'd suggest a less mechanical method for beginners. Just do things "dirty" for a little bit and see how it works out! Don't let yourself get held back by the computer's ability to make things super crisp and perfect. practice doing sketches and refining those without using separate layers, or just use the water tool and paint shit. Don't worry about neatness, just try to practice forms and colors. Use references if you can

Guess i could try though, unsure if the thread would love so much spam images posted through unless they were substantial enough for imput.

>>12571605 Referencing =/= copying
Lets say I want to draw a bicycle. I have no idea how to draw a bike, so I'm gonna reference it. I look up some pictures of bikes and study them. Where do all the bars go? how are the wheels attached? What is the seat shaped like? Things like that. If it's especially difficult, I could copy a bike to help me memorize the details in preperation for drawing my own bike. And even then, I can look back at photos in case I forgot what goes where. The same works for humans, animals, and video game characters. The reference is just to know what the damn thing looks like, what the proportions are, how they're attached, what a leg looks like from some angle... so you can draw these things in your own way. The style will come from you. Try to break away from thinking of drawings as a series of lines, and more of simplified suggestions of form.

...yes /vp/, i am the random layer guy a few posts back...attempted some art of my own, which understandably turned Scribblenauts-ish. :/
Also the one who's been posting sporadic Kasa/Francesca-related requests...sorry if any of them cluttered up the drawthreads.

D'you guys think we could cut down on reaction images and stuff? It's kind of annoying how fast these things go, you have to stalk it for several hours after making or filling a request or else the responses just get pushed off the archive with a bunch of unrelated gifs. Also when posting a WIP, maybe delete it after you've posted the finished result? Just suggestions if anyone else is as irritated with this process as I am. tldr; stop using up the image limit on bs
