It's not.

It's more along the lines of FEAR and SkarmBliss. Or 2DRAG1MAG if you're familiar with pre-Gen 4 metagame slang.
It's a really specific strategy that abuses prankster with shadow force to the point where Purrloin stays invincible.

It was probably mostly because they all happened to have the same features and be in the same pose.

I mean from a design standpoint, sharing similar features is fine.
But you really, really, don't have to make them stay in the same pose with the exact same animation for all three of them.

Before BW2 they were three pokemon in the exact same pose with minimally edited features and a palette swap. Incarnate formes were nice as a design but not as a trio.

Therian formes redeemed it though.

first of all they aren't even palette swaps. gamefreak is a company that employs a 20+ person design team so i don't think any of their pokemon designs are accidental. and i never even said they "look great".
