Stone Edge missing is the price you pay for choosing its power increased over Rock Slide. If you can understand that there are power compensations for things like secondary effects, then you should understand that there are perfectly non-hax moves you can use so that you never have to worry about that 'critical miss.'
There was a metagame on Smogon that once attempted a hax-less meta. Like most every alternate meta that tries to change the basic Pokemon formula, it failed due to lack of players, and faded to obscurity.
People need to understand how probability works. 80% isn't '4 hits, and a miss one every 5th' or 'hits everytime I want it to, except it can miss when it wasn't important.'
This issue isn't with the moves or the game: it's the players who don't understand how it works.
