A symbiotic parasite, the Simic causes enhanced growth and strength, quickening the processes of evolution.
I can expand on this idea, or scrap it.

Please excuse me because I am not an artist. But this is a really interesting first gym. It has a puzzle (the trainers you defeat can give you hints about which snowman at the end is the right one), two interesting movement elements, multiple unique scenery features, and implements the ideas of daycare/kindergarten, tutorial basics, and a pokemon gym.

Simplicity and progression are key, especially since we are making a Pokemon game. We want to add our own spin on it but still keep it referenced to the source.
If every gym is a clusterfuck of objects, none will be memorable and all with be messy. If we start simple and progress to complex, it will feel as if we've actually progressed from that first, small gym into the big league. More powerful gym leaders should have more powerful and more complex gyms. Not the first gym that is part of a daycare and run by a friendly man who resembles Santa.
If we start off complex, every gym will be monotone since we can't build up.
Put all of that stuff in the side building.
Cheren's gym in BW2 is a good example of how I was thinking the gym should be set up, except with the daycare/orphanage on the side.

You can't name a pokemon after an uncorrupted and common real word, especially when it's part of an evolution line where everyone else's name is a pun on that very same word. You can't name it Carapace. Caraschist has three major reasons for adoption: 1) it includes most of the same sounds 2) it has the same pun structure as the other two names carajoule and caranox 3) schist is a hard stone that easily breaks into shards indicating to the knowledgeable that the pokemon has high defenses but is still a bug so has common weaknesses Since I know most of this is just stubborn laziness, here is the same thread opener with this small, but necessary, change. That this has persisted so long is a joke and is only going to reflect badly on us after demos are out. It makes no sense to use Carapace as a name.

2) That being said, I thin the best option is to have 4 trainers, 1 with a ~lv.6-8 mon, 1 with two ~lv.5-7 mons, and a double battle with 2 ~lv.4-6 mons. Then we can set Foster's mons at ~8-14 depending on how many he has. I don't think any of that sounds too intimidating... as long as you don't fuck up and chose the grass starter.
