It's stupid because Oshawott line can actually lose the scalchops/seamitars. Sure, they can grow back, but until they do you're fucked. Blastoise will never lose its cannons; they're permanently built in.

Most Pokemon rely on their own raw strength. Disarm your precious swordsman and its goose is cooked.

I think Empoleon might have a good shot at surviving against a gunshot considering he's made of steel and blubber. Torterra and Blastoise might be able to handle one as well assuming these are normal shots fired from afar with less than perfect accuracy. I don't think any of them can handle a point blank headshot.

real life bears can take a few headshots point blank, what makes you think pokemon cant? charizard for one has horns which implies his skull is overdeveloped for head combat, meaning thick ass skull. Makes sense doesn't it? you now imagine grown charizards fighting with their horns over a female. Also a simple boar can take very high caliber rounds to the body as well, and that's just a boar, I've known of dogs who survive headshots as well. I think if anything they all stand a chance to survive a shot or two, and then tear you to shreads for having shot them.

Charizard is only 5 feet, grizzly bears can get up to 8 feet.
Things like rams and deer don't have overly hard skulls and they have horn fights all the time.
I can see the boar needing a harder skull though, with it's tusks needing to withstand impact on the more fragile part of the skull.

In terms of what I picked when I was first given the choice:
Gen I - Squirtle
Gen II - Chikorita
Gen III - Treeko
Gen IV - Piplup
Gen V - Oshawott
Gen VI - will surely be Froakie

Overall at the moment, fully evolved, I think it's Swampert (with Venusaur in second place).

Unless they pull another Samurott, Froakie's stage 3 will likely succeed it, though. I absolutely love frogs.

Best starter for battling is Infernape. Not including DW abilities because the actual monsters you start with have their standard abilities.
