Why do dubs pronounce Pokémon as "pokaymon", "pokeemon", or "pokahmon"? Shouldn't they say "po-ke-mon", after all, short vowels exist in English language.

This is the correct pronunciation.

...they are meant to emphasize the accented letter. In English, e's emphasized sound is the hard "ay" sound.

Everyone would say "poke-mon" or "poke-ee-mon" if they did it the way they wanted to.

Accent marks denote stress, not vowel length.
To say that is a rule for English doesn't make sense since all English words with accent marks are loan words that follow linguistic rules of their country of origin, like résumé.

"e" doesn't have a one pronunciation in English as it does in other languages so if anyone is going to assume a pronunciation, it would be /e/ as in "set".

They're there to pronounce words the way they're meant to be pronounced. You don't go around saying façade like fack-ayd or blasé like blaze. Acute accents on Es mean they're meant to be pronounced like ay

If "Poke" was supposed to be pronounced like "pocket", then Pokemon would be pronounced "Paw-keh-mon" The long O sound is always present, despite how people say it.

accents take on different funtions in different languages, and for the most part in all other languages, the grave accent indicates primary stress hence the name "accent"

Why did they add the accent in the first place? Even the Japanese romanization has the accent, yet they pronounce it as short vowels.
