It's just completely indicative of the most cancerous competitive attitude; that everything exists in a fucking vacuum. I can't help but feel that most anti-IVfags ironically put the most stock in them, and are overestimating the amount of situations where an extra four points in Sp.Def would've saved them. Generally, most Pokemon won't need flawless stats in all categories to perform their role optimally.
That said, as a way to differentiate Pokemon of the same type, I don't think IVs are a super elegant solution. I can live with them for now because they've slowly been improved upon by giving you a greater degree of control over them, but it's not like I wouldn't welcome them being scrapped altogether. I just think they're used too much as a scapegoat.
