I hear Pinsir so often, but no one ever explains what they want out of the evolution. Pinsir already has great attack and reasonable speed. Its move pool is robust and the abilities it can learn are varied. What would its evolution have to make it valuable?

Basically any pokemon that doesn't have 120 in either offensive stat or has a BST lower than 515.

All of these need evolutions.

This pretty much, especially the first one.

If you don't have fucking 120 attack/sp attack these days you're struggling to 2-3 KO things in-game. The power creep in Gen V is fucking ridiculous, and if Gen VI repeats it the first 4 generations will be non-viable.

Most of the other things people mention don't really NEED it.
A good rule to go by is if a pokemon's final form isn't viable in ANY tier, it probably could actually use an evolution.

Some things do need evolutions, having a standalone pokemon with a BST below 400 is pretty bad even in-game let alone outside.

If you make more pokemon as powerful as current OU, then there'll still be massive amounts of things left behind because GF can't balance for shit.

That's like claiming a pokemon with 500BST or less isn't shit in the current game environment.

Fun fact: 500 BST is weak as shit in-game these days, to say nothing of the competitive scene.
