Zoroark would be cool, if the game was Limited to Wii U I could see there possibly being an Immense roster like the DBZ Fighting Games since Namco Bandai is assisting, but I don't think the 3ds would have room.

Otherwise they could have soooo many character slots dedicated to Pokemon Alone.

I don't think they can remove Pokemon Trainer, way to iconic and caters to nostalgia. Everyone who remembers Japan Time knows how much of a shitstorm the reveal caused.

Surely Zoroark is going to be in the game, I'm guessing replacing Lucario.

I bet Mewtwo returns, with his new form likely being a Final Smash or alt character like Samus/ZSS.

Jigglypuff will of course be back, hopefully with Fairy shenanigans.

That's 5 right there. I don't expect anything else. Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokemon Trainer, Zoroark, Mewtwo.

At least 7 slots.

They're not putting only newcomers on there, but since they had to have a second page for Pit and Bowser, they filled in the rest of it with blank slots.

There will be more pages as those slots fill out.

I'm excited regardless. I bought a Wii just for Brawl. I'll probably do the same for the Wii U.

Hopefully no more gimmick additions like with Lucario. But I feel like Mewtwo will return to replace him. I doubt, considering it's going to be released after the sixth generation, that a fifth generation Pokemon is going to make an appearance as a major character (Zoroark, though I think it would be a trophy).I think Pokemon trainer is going to have different mons, personally, but we'll see about that.

Look at Villager's section on the website. There are only screenshots of him in the Wii U version. My guess is that the Wii U version will focus on the console games (hence Skyloft) and the 3DS will focus on the handheld games (hence Spirit Tracks and Nintendogs stages). Since Pokémon is a predominantly handheld series, maybe Zoroark will be a 3DS exclusive?

Jigglypuff was one of the four original unlockable characters. Both Melee AND Brawl paraded that fact around via missions and trophies.

There's absolutely no way Jiggly, Falcon, Ness, or Luigi are ever leaving Smash.

Since the transition from Melee to Brawl the idea is out there that Characters can be removed.

Since that possibility exists, I will indulge in it and hope for Jiggly's removal until Japan Time or a clip of her actually fighting proves otherwise.

Alternatively, I will stop hoping for her removal if she either
-Becomes a consistent character in the anime once more or...
-Actually gets her own game

You know, if she actually becomes relevant and a worthy representative to her franchise in SSB.

It matters because it's a fact that Smash is proud of. Both Captain Falcon and Ness haven't been relevant for years (especially the latter, going two decades strong), and there hasn't been a single question of removing them.

They're part of Smash history.

And now more recently watching this all star cast interact with other all star characters from other companies.

Falcon and Ness's games may not be relevant, but they are extremely relevant to the games they DO represent.

Keeping Jiggly is the same as letting a goomba be playable at this point.

The only characters that have gotten removed (barring Luigi) have been duplicate characters. Like Dr. Mario and Roy, and attempting to nerf Ganandorf into something that wasn't exactly like Captain Falcon. Mewtwo is an exception, but Lucario is close enough (I guess that they thought he was expendable).

Jigglypuff isn't going anywhere. Lucario, probably because its a minor character (among a roster of 35, as opposed to the original and impactful 12) from single relevant movie (as opposed to an entire season of television, like Jigglypuff). Wolf and Toon Link will go too, I think.

Also as far as clones go, I don't want them to go personally, Id prefer they all be changed a bit to be more unique. and its the roster that gets bigger. Id love having Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Lucario, and Pokemon Trainer all stay.

Also at the moment I don't think Mewtwo will have its new forme as a final smash, seeing as I believe in the leaks, there is still another forme to be seen, Wouldnt make Since for it to be able to transform twice to use both of them, it would either be a waste of a moveslot or a waste of a Final Smash.

Being a small side joke for a very short while does not suddenly make it relevant.

For the pokemon franchise, Jiggly just doesn't cut it as a rep any more.

The following pokemon are more relevant and deserved than Jigglypuff

-Mewtwo
-Genosect
-Fucking Axew of all things
-Any starter trio from any gen
-Hell, even though I want him gone, at least Lucario is recent and even has a movies under his belt as one of the mains
-Meloetta. Hell, she even has the sleeping gimmick down with Relic Song
-Zoroark
I don't know what gen 6er may or may not be in this game, but even THAT pokemon is more deserved than Jigglypuff

The main people that understand Jigglypuff's reference, I feel like, are the same manchildren that purchase the game series. At this point, and above all else, Jigglypuff is a staple in the smash tradition, just like Master Hand, just like the sandbag, and just like a group of polygon/crystal-character-men.

Outside of them both being pink balls here's what Kirby and Jiggly have in common; being able to jump more than once, being useless, and their down air. There are more commonalities between Charizard and Bowser than that.

She was put in as an "All Star" rep to her franchise
Jiggly is not an "all star" any more and hasn't been for a long time

She is a Pokemon Character first and foremost and an unnecessary one at that. We already have a nice deal of Pikamen as it is.

Smash Bros since (and including) Melee has never been strictly about Nintendo's all-stars. It's a fighting game that has Nintendo characters. Jigglypuff has a unique enough playstyle that her spot is safe, unless they do something stupid and replace her with a Gen 6 clone. There are plenty of Melee and Brawl characters who are in because they provide a unique playstyle regardless of their popularity.

Now stop being mad that you managed to get yourself destroyed by Sing/Rest despite it being nerfed in Brawl.

I just view fighting games like SSB as semi-mindless fun, and the Wii Fit Trainer looks like she'll be fun to use. So, I'm happy. Jigglypuff was originally gonna be the mascot of pokemon.
Pikachu got in because of the rising popularity of the Anime.
Also at the time of original smash Jigglypuff was a recurring character in the anime with its Sing+marker shtick. Her Down+B was a fighting game approach to how she put opponents to sleep and fucked with them.
Smash isnt old as Brawl guys. Jiggly is staying and Fairy is gonna buff her somehow
