I liked Gen IV for the way it summed up the world of pokemon so far up to that point, and I like Gen III's designs better.

Gen V was pretty damn good, though. I'll always be a HG/SS fan at heart, but Gen V was the first pokemon game where it felt like new again. Actual characters and story and great pacing were what made it stand out for me.

Nope. Generation V did it's job as a re-introduction to the series, for both old, and new players. About 7/10 pokemon designs were aesthetically pleasing, and that's saying something when the amount topples generation I. The story was more mature and intimate, so it was like throwing a bone to older players.

Except the contests. Best contest type game in the whole series, and they should go back to that format.

Then heart gold was great.

Then BW....was just terrible. The story was terrible. They didnt even try with the number of broken bridges/forced routes. The areas werent expansive. You could tell it was shit when the fucking elite four dont even have 6 pokemon.

Gen II actually used the same engine as the first and was still more surprising.

Gen III remade the entire metagame and became the standard "leap".

Gen IV had the most complete regions and gameplay.

Gen V was just faster and had new pokémon, it feels like it barely improved on Gen IV.

OP is a fag, they should have said that it was the worst when it comes to improvements.

Also those great teams he has in BW2, puts up way more of a fight than even Red.

The thing is, Generation V's story is an intimate conflict. It's N and his bastardly foster fother, being brainwashed into believing pokemon are being enslaved and that they don't like fighting, but humans put them up to it. It's up to you, the protagonist to show him battling helps them grow. Towards the ending of the game, Ghetsis snaps, tells N he's worthless, and that he's a freak. You then intervene, kick his ass, and send him packing. For anybody that has had problems along these lines with their guardian or parent, they can relate. It's truly powerful stuff if you've been there.

I agree completely. I can still go back and play HGSS and Platinum and not do anything, but I have so much still to do in BW and BW2 but I have no motivation.I liked how it looked and played, but it wasn't the same.

I have played Emerald's storymode several times and never get tired of it. Same for SoulSilver and Platinum, in fact I recently started a new run in Platinum.

However, I have no interest in replaying BW, the game already felt like a chore the first time. I think the problem is linearity and hand-holding, you just don't feel like playing exactly the same thing when the only difference is Pokémon.

Honestly, they failed. Like you said, Gen V felt more like Gen 4.5.

However, Gen V had great music, some of my favorite PokeDesigns and overall above-average characters. It's close between Gen I, Gen II and Gen V for my favorite gen, however they're all good.

95% percent of gen 5 fans are part of the new is better crowd and they'll forget about gen 5 once gen 6 comes out (which makes sense, since the latest games will have the most up-to-date features).

Unova didn't really have anything that made it stand out besides being the latest game (other than the half-decent story which you don't really pay attention to once you've completed the game for the first time). Some would argue that Hoenn and Sinnoh had great, diverse regions, Johto had a whole region as post-game and Kanto has nostalgia. But Unova has nothing of worth that Kalos won't have.
